Lynette Overby Olivos

With heavy hearts, we honor the extraordinary life of Lynette Childs Overby, who passed away on January 15, 2025, in Lake Ridge, Virginia. Lynette was a woman of boundless compassion, radiant laughter, and unwavering love, who brought light and joy to everyone she met. Born on September 5, 1953, in Washington, D.C., Lynette lived a life defined by service and selflessness. As a bus driver, caregiver, and hospice nurse, she touched countless lives, offering comfort, dignity, and kindness to all. She had an incredible gift for bringing joy, often using her sharp wit and playful teasing to make others laugh, even in her final days. Lynette’s faith was her foundation. She began her spiritual journey at Caron Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., under Reverend Leroy Waldo, whose teachings left a lasting impact. Her faith guided her to extend love and support to those in need, always with a ready smile, a listening ear, or a joke to lighten the mood. Lynette’s legacy lives on through her devoted sons, Barry and Victor; Victor’s wife, Hope, and their children, Gerald, Devan, Alexander, Marcus, and Sasha; Barry’s daughter, Tashala, her treasured first grandchild; her beloved niece, Deborah; Deborah’s children, Antoinette (Ahmad), and their four children: Taliah, Khalida, Ahmad, and Ruqayyah; and Stephen (DaShell), and their two children: Jasmine and Julius; her cherished nephew, Chris Jr.; and countless family members and friends blessed by her warmth and generosity. She is now joyfully reunited in heaven with her parents, Lynn and Elizabeth; her siblings, Malvin L, Albeum Bertram, and Christopher Alexander; her nephew, Cedric (Ricky); and many loved ones who preceded her.
