Darryl Wayne Stewart, born August 19, 1954, in Rapid City, South Dakota, lived a life defined by deep love, unwavering faith, and a presence that could light up any room. As the son of an Air Force Master Sergeant, Wayne spent his early years traveling across the United States and abroad before his family settled in Woodbridge, Virginia, where he built the life and community he loved. In 2010, he and Sandy moved to Stafford, Virginia, continuing to grow that same sense of connection and belonging. In 1978, Wayne met the love of his life, Sandra “Sandy” Stewart, at Bethlehem Steel. They married within months of meeting, beginning a beautiful love story that spanned 47 years. Together, they built a family and a life side by side—working hand in hand to grow a successful business and remaining united in everything they did. Wayne was larger than life—welcoming, energetic, and unapologetically himself. He loved people deeply and had a gift for bringing them together. Whether hosting gatherings, enjoying the outdoors, or simply opening his home, Wayne made everyone feel like they belonged. He lived life fully, always ready for the next adventure and happiest when sharing it with others. A hardworking and devoted father, Wayne raised three children—Jennifer (Steve), Amber (Frank), and Vincent (Aracely)—with strength and unwavering support. His greatest joy grew even more as “Grandpa” to his beloved grandchildren: Riley Grace, Gavin Francis, Evan Gabriel, Adrien Marie, Carsen Wayne, Mia Marie, Lucas Wayne, Calvin Luis, Isaac Donald, and Mya Adaly, each of whom he loved deeply and proudly. He was also a proud uncle to all his nieces and nephews, especially Eric Donald (Kathy) and their family. Wayne had a lifelong love of the water, spending years boating and skiing before earning his Captain’s license and began captaining boats then upgrading to yachts all along the East Coast. He also shared a passion for fireworks, co-founding Fire in the Sky Pyrotechnics and bringing joy to countless local celebrations. Above all, Wayne’s life was grounded in his faith. As an ordained minister, he was a man of prayer who loved teaching and sharing the message of Jesus with anyone who wanted to know more. He faithfully served others by performing weddings, leading funeral services, and offering guidance and support wherever it was needed. He lived his faith daily—through his ministry, his missionary work, and in the quiet, everyday ways he showed love, compassion, and care. Wayne passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026. He is preceded in death by his mother, Odessa Stewart; his father, Donald Stewart; his brother, Lon Stewart; his sister, Stacey Rae Stewart; and his granddaughter, Mia Marie, who was always held close in his heart. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy; his children and their spouses; and his cherished grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of faith, love, and joy for life. Wayne will be remembered for the way he loved—fully and generously. He had a servant’s heart, a deep faith, and a joy for life that was contagious. He welcomed everyone, gave freely, and left a lasting mark on all who knew him. We will be celebrating Wayne’s life on Friday, April 17, 2026. A brief service and prayer will be held at 11:00 AM at Miller Funeral Home in Woodbridge, Virginia, followed by a procession—because he loved a good procession—to a graveside ceremony at Dumfries Cemetery at 1:00 PM. And because Wayne never did anything halfway, we invite you to continue the celebration at Harbour View from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM—a time to share stories, laughter, and memories, just as Wayne would have wanted. There is no better way to honor Wayne than by being together and celebrating a life so fully lived and so deeply loved.
