Surrinder Kumar (S.K.) Seth, 86, born in Qadian, India passed away peacefully on June 16, 2022 at his home in Burke, VA surrounded by his loving family. S.K. Seth was born to Piara Lal and Karam Dai Seth on October 18, 1935. After attending college, he started his career in diplomacy during the mid-1950s for the Indian Government’s Ministry of External Affairs. He married his loving wife Asha Chopra in 1959, they had four children together Ajey, Anita, Rita, and Seema. In 1982, his diplomatic status brought the family to the United States where he was proud to give his children the gift of becoming the first generation in his family to set roots in America. Shortly, after returning to India to continue his decades-long distinguished service to his country as a diplomat, S.K. Seth was ready to answer a different call to duty. This time to help raise his grandchildren with his wife in America. Putting his family first, S.K. Seth retired early from his coveted and prestigious career as a diplomat at the age of 56. He also left behind his close friends, siblings, and other loved ones. S.K. Seth was a man of integrity and compassion, he adored his family and wanted the best for them. S.K. Seth was also very proud of his diplomatic past, and always shared stories about the various diplomatic postings and how his wife and their four children traveled all over the world. He enjoyed the simplest pleasures in life including home-cooked meals with friends and family, winning volleyball tournaments during his younger years, watching sports, discussing current events and news, and staying in touch with relatives through sending typed or handwritten notes and letters. He also made it a priority to travel to India to visit with his siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. His greatest achievement and pleasure in life was watching his family grow and prosper in the U.S. for over three decades. S.K. Seth was a mainstay at all major family functions and events. With a bright joyous smile, he always praised and rewarded his children, grandchildren, and other loved ones for their achievements and accomplishments. As he aged, his memory declined, but he never forgot the voices and names of his loved ones. He always said to his family “Pyar mohabbat seh rehna hai” translating to “You always need to live with LOVE.” He also said “Wohi hota hai jo manzoore khuda hota hai” meaning “Whatever happens in life is because of the will of GOD.” He told his Grandson Noah, “Never forget me when I am gone” and he will never be forgotten. S.K. Seth will always be an Angel watching over us all. S.K. Seth has gone to heaven to join his beloved, loving, and beautiful daughter Anita Worthey, mother and father Karam Dai and Piara Lal Seth, and nine siblings. S.K.
