Paula Ladonna Hinson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dr. Paula Ladonna Hinson, 50, of Montclair, VA, sadly passed away on September 14, 2021. Paula was a beloved mother, sister, wife, and friend. She dedicated her life to her sons and was their biggest fan. She took great joy in seeing both boys succeed, often cheering them on in whatever sport they chose. She loved watching them both play hockey and recently become a certified swim official. Paula was a lifelong educator, she loved teaching her students within Manassas City Public Schools and tutoring others from all over the United States. She was honored to receive the Culturally Aware & Responsive Educator of the Year award from Prince William County in 2018 and was proud to be recognized by Virginia’s governor, Terry McAuliffe, for leading her elementary school cybersecurity team to a first-place win in a nationwide competition. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, the late Henry Scarbo and the late Fran Scarbo, both of Ridgemanor, FL. She is survived by her sons, Zachariah, 19 and Rian, 16, of Montclair, VA, her husband Ron, of Portland, OR, her sisters, Joanna Medez, of FL, Rose Walsh of FL, Stara DeGeorge, of SC and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is scheduled for 10 am Saturday 9/18 at Miller’s Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge, VA 22192, with a service to be held at noon. Private interment for immediate family will follow. Following the services, the family will receive visitors from 3 PM to 6 PM at Birchdale Community Center Pavilion located at 14730 Birchdale Ave, Dale City, VA 22193. Donations may be made in Paula’s honor to one of her favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
