Our Matriarch, Mary Ruth Spoon went to Heaven to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2020. She passed peacefully at her home, with her loving family by her side, in Woodbridge, Virginia. Mary Ruth Vandergriff was born in Knoxville, Tennessee where she met the love of her life, Clyde Lewis Spoon Jr. They were married 49 years before his passing in 2000. Mary Ruth and Clyde had and are survived by six daughters Brenda Davis, Darlene Novak, Mary Howard, Debbie Grooms, Marty Karpik, Lisa Frazier and four Son-in-Laws. Mary Ruth was the loving Grandmother of 11 Grandchildren, and 12 Great-Grandchildren. She loved them all very much. She was a retired government employee. Mary Ruth was the most kind, loving, positive and strong woman. She always looked for the good in everyone and in every situation. Mary Ruth was loved by all. Through us her love will always be alive. "As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you" Isaiah 66:13 The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 11-12:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA 22192. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
