Julita Tabion Torres, 79, of Fort Washington, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on April 7, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Julie, as she was commonly referred to, was born September 24, 1940, in the Philippines and grew up in the city of Asingan, Pangasinan. She is survived by her beloved children: Rodolfo “Rudy” (Marie Sales); Theresa Jane “Gin” (Carlos Abelende); Russell (Jo-Anne Alpaño); her twin stepdaughters, Rhoda Mae and Danna Mae; and her husband, Rolando Torres. She also was “Grandma Julie” or “Lola Julie” to her cherished grandchildren: Kayla, Joshua, Jacob, Joel, Madison and Madden. Julie was predeceased by her parents Mariano and Rufina Tabion, her sister Sergia and brother Romeo. She is survived by her siblings Herminio, Angelita, Rogelio and her treasured family members, including nephews and nieces, in Illinois, Texas, California, Virginia Beach, and in the Philippines. She is lovingly remembered as a pioneer who helped pave the way for her family members to emigrate to the United States for greener pastures overseas. Julie also developed an abundance of lifelong friendships in Fort Washington and her local DMV community. She maintained her hometown roots and engaged with the Ilocano social group. Additionally, she was a former choir member and parishioner of the Saint Columba Catholic Church. Julie was a respected CPA and worked for organizations including National Education Association, Dynamesh, Inc. and Classic Floor Design. She also prepared taxes for a limited clientele and select business owners. Julie was a known risk taker but was carefree and generous with her resources. She loved to celebrate life, spent precious time with her family and friends, and was an extensive traveler. She was lively, high spirited and was known for her amusing sense of humor. She enjoyed gaming activities, especially mahjong! A private viewing with the family will be held at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory in Woodbridge, Virginia.
