John "Doc" Norman Quigley, 73, of Woodbridge, Virginia died January 5, 2020 at home. After high school graduation, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He attended medic training in Camp Lejeune. Upon completing his courses, John was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam as their medic. In October, 1969 the field hospital came under enemy mortar fire. John sustained severe injuries while defending and protecting the hospital and the injured in his care. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Operations Insignia, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. After numerous surgeries and intense rehabilitation he joined the Navy Federal Credit Union as a financial counselor. John was also a member of All Saints Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lodge 1503. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Quigley and parents Norman and Mary Quigley. John is survived by his wife, Phyllis Porch, brothers, Steve, David and Joseph Quigley, stepchildren, Brian Hilton, Paige Davis, Jon and Michael Porch, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation is being held Friday, January 17, 2020 from 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. with a memorial service at 12 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA 22192. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to All Saints Anglican Church, 14851 Gideon Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22192. Following the interment, the family will receive visitors at the VFW-Post 1503 for a Celebration of Life.
