He is preceded in death by his parents Marciano and Juanita and his siblings, Pros, Claring, Doring, Lilia, Max, Marciano Junior, and Eddie. Joaquin was born on August 20, 1933 in Nasugbu, Batangas, Philippines to Marciano and Juanita. He graduated top of his class in high school and was the first to be accepted from his town to the Philippine Military Academy straight out of high school. To better provide for his mom and siblings, he left PMA so that he could work full time and go to college. He eventually graduated from Far Eastern University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He married Milagros Villaluna on March 6, 1966. They have two children, Rica and Claro. In March 1973, he moved to the United States to successfully give his family a better life. After moving to the United States, Joaquin was the civil engineering project manager for numerous developments in Woodbridge including Tackett’s Mill, as well as numerous housing developments in Fairfax and Manassas. But his greatest accomplishment was being a loving husband (married for over 53 years) and dad and an even better grandfather (Nono) to his two grandsons. Joaquin also loved to go fishing, play sudoku, and watch his grandson’s games. The family will receive visitors Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 4:30-8:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA 22192. A funeral is scheduled for Friday, September 13 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church (13752 Mary’s Way, Woodbridge, VA), with a reception to follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Fellowship Hall (12807 Valleywood Drive, Woodbridge, VA).
