Harry Elmer Fizer Jr., 89, of Woodbridge, Virginia, died December 23, 2021, at Potomac Place Memory Care, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Many thanks to the nurses and staff at Potomac Place for their tender love and care. Fizer was a devoted husband and a wonderful, caring father who loved to laugh. He was very social and had a gift for making everyone feel included. He was an MP in the US Army serving during the Korean War. After his military service he worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1997. He was a founding member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and a member of the choir where he frequently sang solos. One of his favorite songs, “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” was sung at many weddings. He was a loyal and lifelong Washington Redskins fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Elmer Fizer Sr. and Nora Lawless Fizer, his brother Jack Fizer and his sister Shelby Fizer. Fizer is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Jane; daughters Karen Bilak Swann (Michael Swann) of Centreville, and Tina Sullivan (Shane Sullivan) of Herndon; son Tim Fizer (Queta Fizer) of Woodbridge; and grandchildren Rylie and Olivia Sullivan.
