Gayle Swabb, 79, of Dale City, Virginia, went to be with her heavenly Father and rest in his arms on January 9, 2021. Gayle was born on December 31, 1941 in Post, Texas, she was raised in Sherman, Texas. Gayle was a strong woman who had a tremendous work ethic and never liked to be told “it can’t be done.” She had a successful career for over 35 years in the medical field before retiring in 1994. During her retirement years, she volunteered at Sonnie Penn Elementary School for 14 years. Gayle, a member of the Woodbridge church of Christ since 1972, was very active in the Bible school program. She is remembered by current and former members as always being welcoming and encouraging. Gayle enjoyed cross stitching and reading James Patterson books. Gayle is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles M. Swabb; her son, Kevin and his wife, and her daughter, Karla Anthony and her husband, Eric. Gayle was known as “Mimi” to four grandchildren, including Philip Anthony, and his wife Chelsea of Avenue, Maryland and Shannon Anthony of Fredericksburg, Virginia and two great-grandchildren, Amelia Amber Anthony and Jackson Ray Anthony. Gayle is also survived by her twin brother, Dayle Cantrell and his wife, Vicky, of Tyler, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 10:00 am at Miller Funeral Home followed by an interment at Quantico National Cemetery.
