Doyle B. Burdette
January 26, 2021
Doyle Breeden Burdette, 94, passed away January 26, 2021 peacefully at home. Doyle was raised in SC and came to the DC area in his late teens. At 20 years old while working for Bethlehem Steel Company in Baltimore, MD as an electrician, he was drafted into the Army. His military career started after the war was over, in May 1946 and lasted until October 1947. He honorably discharged as a Sergeant in charge of 35 men in the operation of 35 2-ton trucks. Doyle’s enlisted time was spent in Japan to help with the US humanitarian efforts post WWII. Many of Doyle’s siblings also relocated to the DC area, so he was always surrounded by family. Over the years Doyle worked within the auto repair industry at several dealerships. He eventually started working at home after building his own shop. That is where he spent the last 45 years of his life. It was his slice of heaven on earth. Doyle made many friends in the area, while helping everyone he knew. There was not a machine or car he couldn’t fix, and he fixed a lot of them. Besides working, he enjoyed hunting and spending time with his friends and family. He was a great storyteller! After his health challenges in late summer, Doyle said he was ready to go home to the Lord. He was blessed with a wife to help him through the tough times and the easy times. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Mr. Burdette was the youngest child and was preceded in death by his 4 brothers, 3 sisters and; stepdaughter, Diane Leigh Ray. Mr. Burdette is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Ann Burdette; daughter, Bobbi Jo Fisher; stepdaughter, Terri Driver, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, on February 7, 2021 at 12:00pm. Graveside burial will be held at National Memorial Park – King David Memorial Gardens at 2pm. We look forward to having you join us in celebrating the life of Doyle Breeden Burdette.
