Archie Gregory Barker June 23, 1948 – January 3, 2021 On Sunday, January 3, 2021, Mr. Barker (Archie) died at Mount Vernon Hospital after a short illness. He was born to James and Katherine Barker and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. Archie is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Jacqueline (Jackie) Barker. Archie had five siblings, two brothers: (1) James Jr. and (2) Steven; and three sisters: (3) Brenda, (4) Linda, and (5) Debbie. 1. James and Ruth (divorced) Barker Jr. had two sons: James Barker III and Jason Barker. (James Barker, Jr. is now married to Donna). James Barker III and Kimberly had two children, James IV and Alexandria. Jason Barker and Kraila had two children, Nathaniel and Samantha. 2. Steven Barker (deceased) married Debra. They had a daughter, Catherine Barker. 3. Brenda and Guy (deceased) Rodgers had two sons: Jeffrey and Christopher. Jeffrey Rodgers and Susan had two children, Jake and Lindsey Vayer (Hunter). Christopher Rodgers and Monica had two children, Andrew and Julia. 4. Linda and William St. Laurent had two children, Michael and Lisa. Michael St. Laurent and Stacy had two children, Heidi and Libby. Lisa and John Henault (divorced) had two children, Nathan and Tyler. 5. Debbie and Steven Helberg’s daughter Amy married Glenn Stover. Amy and Glenn have two children, Greyson and Asher. Archie graduated from T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army serving a 13-month tour of duty with the 7th Infantry Division in Korea. After returning to the States, Archie worked at Safeway grocery stores in Northern Virginia. His last 10 years with Safeway were at the King Street Safeway store in Alexandria. Archie retired after a 44-year career with Safeway, having been a Produce Manger most of his career. Archie was very proud of his English Ancestry. Two of his ancestors were sea captains of English ships, the Abraham (1633) and the Marmaduke (1649). This may be the reason he enjoyed collecting model ships of century’s ago. Interment will be held at Quantico National Cemetery.
