Roseann Cass

The family of Roseann Cass is saddened to announce her passing at the age of 92. She was a beacon of strength and wisdom and loved by so many over her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Don A. Cass. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Michael Haley and Margaret Noon, both of Philadelphia; one brother, Joseph Haley of Philadelphia and two sisters, Marie Roatcap and Peggy Haffelfinger. She is survived by all four of her children, Donald Cass (Linda) of Manassas, VA, James Cass of Edinburg, VA, Marie Cass Traylor (William) of Woodbridge, VA and Diane Cass (DuWayne) of Woodbridge, VA; as well as seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She left her hometown of Philadelphia, PA in her early 20's to visit her sister living in Paris, France at the time. Shortly after arriving in the City of Love, she met a young Army soldier, who would become her husband. They fell in love and were married in April in Paris, the beautiful and romantic City of Lights. After their first child Donald was born, they returned to the United States, sharing life as an Army wife. After several years living in the U.S., they relocated to Japan along with their three children, where they lived for five years. She often spoke very fondly of her time there, saying they were the "best years of her life". Upon returning back to the United States, the family settled in Woodbridge, VA where they completed their family with their fourth child, Diane. Roseann never met a stranger and everyone she met simply loved her. She developed many wonderful and lasting relationships with people of all ages. The family extends a special appreciation to Home Helpers of Woodbridge, VA that provided home caregivers to assist with in-home care for Roseann. They provided the utmost care, empathy, compassion, patience, flexibility and above all, LOVE. This provided the ability for Roseann to stay in her home where she lived with her daughter, Marie and her family, during her last years of life, where she was the happiest when surrounded by friends and family. Also, a very special thank you to Vitas Healthcare Hospice for providing end of life care in her final days. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 11-12:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA 22192, where a service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Flowers may be sent to Miller Funeral Home or donations may be sent to Vitas Healthcare Hospice, 3251 Blenheim Blvd., Suite 200, Fairfax, VA 22030.
