Reverend Gary Tate

Reverend Gary Tate, 72, of Woodbridge, VA, after a long illness bravely fought, went into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 12, 2020. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years Patricia, their two daughters Michele Hilf, son-in-law Daniel Hilf of Woodbridge, VA, and daughter Sharon Tate of Woodbridge, VA, son Mark Tate of Woodbridge, VA. He also leaves behind 4 precious grandchildren, Hannah & Ben Fluke, Adam Hilf, Christina Hilf, and Nathaniel Hilf and 2 newborn great-grandchildren Adrian and Caleb. Gary was born February 1948 in the county of Durham, England. He started work in a coal mine at the age of 15, at age 26 he became a junior manager and after serving 5 years in the North East of England he transferred to Bevercoates mine in Nottinghamshire. He worked for a further 11 years at this mine, he retired from the coal mining industry at age 42. After which he began a whole different career as a Minister of Religion, he attended Mattersey Hall AoG Bible College, and graduated with a degree in theology. Gary went back to the North East of England to take on the position of Senior Pastor at the Cornerstone Christian Center in Evenwood. After pastoring there for over 6 years, the Lord led him and his wife Patricia to the United States of America to begin a church work with a Pentecostal denomination in Virginia. After faithfully serving the Lord within ministry, Reverend Tate retired in 2017, due to his declining health. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 12-2 p.m. (All are welcome.) The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Pastor Bill Frasnelli of Jubilee Christian Center, Fairfax will officiate. Services will be carried out at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA 22192. This is to be a celebration of Gary's life and a time to honor this great man of God, please come to celebrate the remembrance of his life with us. Flowers will be received from 9-11 a.m. on the day of the funeral at Miller Funeral Home. Light refreshments (due to Covid restrictions) will be held at the family home.
