Joseph "Joe" Casey

Joseph “Joe” Casey passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on December 25, 1934. Joe was driven by his deep devotion to his Catholic faith, love for his family, commitment to his community, and dedication to charity. He lived with purpose and selflessness, and that was evident by his actions and impact on those around him. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Katherine “Kay”, their children Patricia, Karen (Roger), Thomas (Estelle), Michelle (Philip), and grandchildren Brandon, Noah, and Emma, his brother Andrew, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Casey, his sister, Marie Riley, brothers John, Neil, and his twin brother James. His professional career began with his service in the Navy and was followed by employment with the CIA and American University before becoming a small business owner with his own accounting practice in Woodbridge for over 50 years. He served his clients side by side with the love of his life, Kay. He was a member of the Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church and during his 63 years as a dedicated parishioner, he volunteered in many positions to support the parish. He was a long time Woodbridge resident, but he found his home among his neighbors at River Ridge when he and Kay moved there in 1998. He proudly served as Treasurer of the River Ridge Community Association for 18 years. His accounting practice was close by his home in Lake Ridge Executive Park, and he was on their Board of Directors for many years. Joe’s legacy is one of lessons in integrity and conviction. He demonstrated that to his children and grandchildren and led by example beyond family to his community and friends. Faith was his guide, his family was his purpose, his neighbors and friends were his motivation, and those less fortunate were his concern. Participation and leadership were principles that he upheld in all facets of his life. He was always a good resource for some humor and comic relief. Nothing could honor him more than those that knew and loved him to carry on his mission to serve others and do so with an infectious smile, engaging personality, and lightheartedness in his spirit. He loved life, laughter, and the happiness he found in his family and friends. Do not mourn his loss but carry his joy in your heart and share it with others. Although he was small in stature, he was larger than life. He was a blessing to all. Family will receive visitors on Thursday, January 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Boulevard, Woodbridge, VA. Services will be held on Friday, January 9th at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 13752 Mary’s Way, Woodbridge, VA. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on a future date. Joe felt a special devotion to St. Jude. His heart was drawn to the needs of the children and their families at St. Jude’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
