Heaven has gained a beautiful soul! Steve (John) Bachman, 79, of Lake Ridge, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at Fairfax Hospital. Born on August 29, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, Steve moved at a young age to Quantico, Virginia—affectionately known as “Q Town”—where he grew up. He graduated from Gar-Field High School, attended Virginia Tech, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Steve enjoyed a long and successful career as a licensed real estate broker spanning more than 45 years, retiring in 2022. He began as co-owner of Homeyer & Bachman and went on to manage and represent several firms throughout his career. In recognition of his dedication and contributions to the profession, he was honored with the Prince William Association of Realtors Lifetime Award in 2009. An avid golfer, Steve spent countless hours on the course with close friends he cherished for many years. While he never achieved that elusive hole-in-one, he loved the game—especially the camaraderie and the semiannual golf trips that became treasured traditions. Above all, Steve will be remembered for the quiet, steady role he played within his family. He was a loving husband who provided warmth, protection, laughter, and unwavering support. This devotion extended to his children, stepchildren, and grandchildren. Often working behind the scenes, Steve made sure things got done—running errands, anticipating the needs of others, or simply lending out his well-known “burgundy pickup truck.” He was a constant, dependable presence—someone you could always count on—yet, he also had a sharp wit, a great sense of humor, and a gift for perfectly timed sarcasm. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Jane and Forrest Bachman; brother, Tommy Bachman; sister, Patti Bachman Green; and his two sons, Jason and Chris Bachman. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cindy Fox Bachman; children, Meagan Ross of Maryland and Derek Fox (Dana) of North Carolina; and his eight grandchildren: Robert, Ben, Joey, Allie, Matthew, Morgan, Stirling, and Jensen. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Cherish Avallone (Craig) and Jean Clay; great-nephews, Jason, Daniel, and Austin; and his brother-in-law, Charlie Green. A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge, Virginia. A Celebration of Life will follow at Tall Oaks Community Center, 12298 Cotton Mill Drive, Lake Ridge, Virginia.
