Jessica Vene Jelks

God called his dear daughter, Jessica Jelks, home on April 16, 2023, in Woodbridge, VA. God said, it was time for Jessica to receive her wings. Jessica was born to John and Toni Jelks on October 12, 1983, in Landstuhl, Germany. Let us share a few things about Jessica. Growing up, Jessica was a military, “brat,” where she travelled with her parents and lived in various locations in the United States and overseas. She graduated from Hylton High School in Woodbridge, VA in 2003. Jessica obtained her Associates Degree in General Studies at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. She worked many jobs, loved conversating with people, and was an excellent Customer Service Representative. Among other things, on October 7th, 2007, Jessica had a son, Javari Jones. She taught him how to be strong in the world no matter where he went and no matter how tough things got. If Jessica were to be here with us, she would have wished that. Just like that child, everyone who has and continues to care for her even in death, will continue to grow with her both in heart and in mind. Jessica was a loving mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She shared several passions with her son, they both adored watching movies and playing video games together. Jessica also enjoyed spending quality time with Javari and going to movie theatres with him, her niece, and nephew. Jessica was funny, entertaining, and a storyteller. She was very friendly and a long conversationalist. She would have you on the phone for hours. Jessica was a great make-up artist and often played make up with her niece, Giana. She loved posting beautiful selfies on social media and providing greetings of the day to friends and family. Jessica also loved music; she would constantly walk around the house singing tunes from her playlist. Our Jessica will truly be missed, she had a kind heart, good soul, and will always be loved. Cherishing her memories are her parents, John and Toni Jelks; her son: Javari Jones; sister, Jasmine Jelks; grandmother, Mary Jelks. Grandfathers who preceded her in death, John Jelks Sr., James Gallimore Jr., and grandmother, Adrienne Gallimore. She is also survived by her niece (Gianna), her nephew (Kash), and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA 22192.
