Jeffrey Eric Wagnon Sr.

In loving memory of Jeffrey Eric Wagnon, Sr., affectionately known as Jeff, a beloved patriarch whose life's journey was adorned with love, unwavering dedication, and cherished moments, which he gracefully shared with all who knew him. On May 8, 2024, Jeff peacefully transitioned to eternal rest at the age of 86 in Stafford, Virginia. Left to treasure his memory are his adoring children: Jeffrey E. Wagnon Jr. (Laurie), James Wagnon (Julie), Barry Wagnon (Michelle), and Patrick Wagnon (Diane), a testament to the enduring legacy of love and devotion he leaves behind. Additionally, he is fondly remembered by his dear brother, Don Wagnon, and a cherished family of fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Jeff's journey began in Emmet, Nebraska, on November 21, 1937, where he was welcomed into the world by his mother, Ruth Wagnon, and lovingly raised alongside his grandfather, Bill Tenborg. His adventurous spirit led him to Hastings, Minnesota, where he cultivated a career in construction, specializing in concrete work. It was in this bustling town that he found his lifelong partner, Joanne Elizabeth Ellingson, and on April 18, 1959, their hearts intertwined in marriage, embarking on a journey of love that spanned over six decades until Joanne's peaceful passing. A dedicated provider and loving husband, Jeff's career path led him to Arlington, Virginia, where he worked as a manager at a local grocery store before transitioning to Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company, where his commitment and hard work saw him rise through the ranks to management over 25 years of dedicated service. Following the company's closure, he embarked on various endeavors in the construction industry. He was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He was very proud to have been initiated into the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons on 9/29/1975 and raised as a Master Mason on 9/13/1976 in Cherrydale Columbia lodge 42 in Arlington, VA. He retired at the age of 65 to embrace the joys of leisure. Jeff found solace and joy in his garage, a sanctuary where he could tinker and create, his skilled hands capable of fashioning or fixing anything that came his way. His welcoming demeanor and infectious laughter made his happy place a hub of cherished memories, where family and friends were always welcomed, creating lasting bonds and unforgettable moments. Among his passions, Jeff found great joy in annual pilgrimages to the Indianapolis 500 with his closest friends, creating cherished memories that would be fondly recounted for years to come. In 2002, alongside his beloved Joanne, he embarked on a new adventure, relocating to Florida to savor fifteen years of well-deserved retirement before returning to his roots in Stafford, Virginia, in 2017. Jeff's departure from this world leaves behind a void that can only be filled with the enduring love and memories he bestowed upon all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is reunited with loved ones who preceded him in death, including his dear mother, Ruth Wagnon, his cherished wife, Joanne, and his beloved son, William Richard Wagnon (Bill), his siblings John (Skip) Wagnon, and Sharon Meier. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were touched by his kindness, warmth, and unwavering love. To honor Jeff's life and legacy, a time of remembrance will be held on Friday, May 17, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home in Woodbridge, VA, offering an opportunity for friends and loved ones to come together and celebrate a life well-lived. In this time of mourning, let us find comfort in the memories we shared and the love that continues to bind us together.
