OBITUARY FOR FRANCES L. COLLINS June 21,1934 - August 31, 2026 Frances L. Collins died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 31, 2026 in Belmont Bay Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Woodbridge, VA. She was the daughter of Salvatore and Lucia DiMatteo who had immigrated from Italy to the United States. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 5 siblings; Phyllis D'Alesandro, Libby DeLeo, Nick DiMatteo, Phil DiMatteo and Salvatore DiMatteo. Both of her two younger brothers, Sal & Phil just passed away in 2O25. She is survived by her daughter Teresa Collins; her son Jerry Collins; and her three grandchildren Christina Collins, Stephen Collins, and Vickie Hayne (Jeff) and her great grandchildren, Allen and Tristian. She also leaves behind many Nieces and Nephews whom she grew very close to over the years and they will dearly miss her council and love. Rumor has it that she won the "Healthiest Student Award" in elementary school. When asked, "How she stayed so healthy" she replied, " I eat Pasta Fijoli, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Pasta Chote, Ravioli, and Spaghetti Garlic and Oil. Well, she lived to 92 years old. She lived in Long lsland, NY for many years. She decided she would move to Colorado Springs, CO and she lived near her brother Sal. When you asked her, how she would find Colorado, she said, "Go to the George Washington Bridge and hang a right!" Years later she secured a job with the ClA, in and around Washinton DC., at one point, working in security, with a high level security clearance. The government provided her with an apartment in ltaly that she could work out of when needed during one period of her life. After falling in her Fairfax, VA apartment in January, she moved to a wonderful Assisted Living Facility in Woodbridge. She was in her new home at Brookdale since March, where she found happiness; companionship; and caring attention. Family members, of the residents of her assisted living home, were planning to visit her at the rehab center this week because they had grown so close to her. Many Nurses and her attendants at the hospital and this recent rehab center described her as "so cute"; "sweet" and"adorable". Her new companion driver said, "l just love her!" She thrived in her new home and was her best self at the end. Most of the people who knew her will agree she had a real zest for life and a fun-loving nature. She will be missed by so many.
