Dominick Joseph Catalfamo

Dominick Joseph Catalfamo, born on February 9th, 1940, passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2024, at home with his wife of 60 years, Pat, and their son Michael at his side. Dominick is survived by his wife Pat, his son Michael, and his daughter Cheryl (John) Grella, as well as his sister Kathy Catalfamo. He is also survived by his grandchildren Anthony and Nicholas Catalfamo, Jospeh, Luke, and Juliana Grella, his niece Laura Catalfamo McNamara, his great – nephew Joseph McNamara, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Joseph Catalfamo. Dom’s life journey started in Albany, NY, where he grew up and attended Christian Brothers Academy (CBA), a military high school. He loved his football years, where he acquired the nickname of “The Cat.” He went on to the University of Tennessee on a football scholarship but completed his degree at American University in Washington, D.C. From there, he entered the US Navy, as his father had done before him, and finished his tour of duty with an honorable discharge. Dom’s true love was becoming a police officer, which brought him to Washington, D.C., where he served as a police officer, worked undercover on the vice squad, and retired after 30 years as a sergeant. Dom was a mentor and friend to many on the police force, where they nicknamed him “The Godfather.” His home was his castle, and he loved working on home improvement projects that always kept him busy. Family and friends were his life. After an extended period of police service, Dom began working with the Prince William County Park Authority as a Park Ranger and retired as a Chief Ranger. The family would like to extend thanks to Hospice for their loving care and support to all those who helped and cared for Dominick. Special thanks to Sara, Arvil, Juliana, Linda, KK, Sharmonica, and Shunka. Much love to you all. Many thanks to all who visited and gave him memories filled with joy and laughter, especially those visits and calls from his police buddies that made his day. Pat, Michael, and Kathy are at a loss for words to express their gratitude to all those who comforted him and us. Services will be held at the Miller Funeral Home on September 30th, 2024, with visiting hours from 10:30 – 11:30. Funeral services will be 11:30 – 12:30, followed by burial at Quantico. Donations can also be made to: Prince William County Fire Department #26 and the Prince William County Pet Shelter.
