Annie Laurie Coligan

(Annie) Laurie Coligan, 67, of Montclair, Virginia, was welcomed to heaven on December 29, 2020 following a courageous battle with endometrial cancer. We know that Laurie’s spirit lives (and sings) on in the hearts of her family and friends. Laurie was a kind, smart, and loving women of deep faith. She had a successful career of over 30 years as an office manager for Dr. Richard Robinson until her retirement. She had a passion for singing and spent many years sharing her gift with others by singing in the choir at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church as well as the Vienna-Falls Chorus chapter of Sweet Adelines. When Laurie was not singing, she enjoyed spending time with her family, baking bread, and taking trips to the beach. Laurie was known for always having a smile or kind word for everyone around her. Everywhere she went people were touched by her gentle sweetness in a way that made her unforgettable. Laurie is survived by her son, Kirk Coligan; her brother William Stein and sister-in-law Tina Johnson; sister Gretchen Thompson and brother-in-law Al Thompson; brother Kurt Stein and sister-in-law Paula Stein; brother Karl Stein and sister-in-law Jamie Stein; nieces and nephews Kristy Laughlin, Katie Martin, Derek Stein, Karly Thompson, and Brett Stein; great nieces and nephews June Martin, David Laughlin, and Grace Martin; boyfriend Jim Rector, and the Coligan family. A ‘celebration of life’ memorial service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 11:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Due to the current pandemic this service is limited to a maximum of 160 guests. All guests that wish to attend will be required to wear a mask and should plan to arrive by 11:00am to accommodate the required health screening prior to entry due to the current pandemic. The doors to the church will be locked once the funeral begins. Our hope is to host a future celebration of life for Laurie once the pandemic is over so we can sing and hug each other in healing remembrance of sweet Laurie.
