William (Bill) Long

February 4, 1935 - November 28, 2011

William Long, 76, of Lorton, VA, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2011 at his summer retreat home in Mount Holly, VA. He served eight and one-half years in the USMC with an Honorable Discharge in 1963, one year with the US Government, 23 years in Law Enforcement, and 12 years with Lockheed Martin retiring in 2000.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, the late Luther G. Long and Mary Peggy Rogers of Whiteville, NC, and brother Ross Rogers. He is survived by wife of 46 years, Dorothy (Miller) Long; two sons, William Michael (Long) Bumba of Puerto Rico, Christopher Scott Long of Dumfries, VA, and two daughters, Lisa and husband Ken Matlick of Chantilly, VA, and Tina Marie Lawson of Hampstead, MD. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Sebastian, Jacqueline, and Thomas.

The family will receive visitors Monday, December 5, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00PM at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA (703-878-2273). A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:30AM at Our Lady of Angels Church, 13752 Mary's Way, Woodbridge, VA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's, The Salvation Army or the American Heart Association. The favor of your prayers for the dearly departed and surviving family is greatly appreciated.
