BrendaJoyce "BJ" Nakatani, 67

Peacefully passed away at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, Woodbridge, VA on February 2, 2013. Born in Frankfort, KY, loving and devoted wife of 43 years with Royce Nakatani, and loving mother of Terry Lambert, his wife, daughter-in-law Margaret Lambert-Nihiser. Grandchildren, Samantha Lambert, Jo-el Lambert, Melissa Lambert, Alessandra Nihiser, Edward Lambert-Nihiser, Cora Lambert-Nihiser.


Brenda is also survived by her sister-in-law Candie Moore of Columbus, OH, niece Tiffany Horton; Scottsdale, AZ and her special nephew Scott Turbin; Frankfort, KY, who took loving care of BJ's mother Dorothy, until her passing.


BJ was an enthusiastic Boy Scout leader while stationed with her husband in Germany and earned the prestigious Silver Beaver and Buffalo Woodbadge recipeint. Unfortunately because of her health, she was unable to continue her calling since arriving in Woodbridge in 1990. BJ also worked tirelessly at the Wurzburg Military Hospital's Red Cross as a senior volunteer, assisting patients and family in their time of need.


She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Atkinson-Gross, her sister Janice Turbin and father Hugh Atkinson, USAF and Viet Nam Veteran.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge, VA 22192.
