Susan T. Himmel, 89
Susan Thomas Wayne Himmel, a long-time resident of Manassas, Virginia, went home to her heavenly father on August 17, 2018 at 10:58pm at the full age of 89 years. Born February 24, 1929 in Lebanon KY, she was the youngest in her family, with three older brothers and one sister. Susan leaves behind six children, an ex-husband of 25 years, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great great-granddaughter. She was surrounded by her family at her passing and awaited in heaven by her parents and siblings.
Aside from being devoted to raising her family as a military wife who traveled the US and even lived in Japan, she always held a love for her garden and creations. She was a seamstress, painter, caregiver, and master of many beautiful crafts. Susan was also a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and faithfully gave to UNICEF and Catholic charities. She also loved entering her flowers and crafts in the County Fairs, often coming away with blue ribbons.
There will be a viewing held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manassas Virginia on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10am, with a mass to follow at 11am. Following mass, the burial will be held across the street from the church at 12pm followed by a reception held at the church by the ladies auxiliary of Scared Heart to share in her memory.
