Eugene J. (Gene) Chuday Jr.,  77

Eugene J. (Gene) Chuday, Jr., of Dale City, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017. He was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on October 18, 1940 to Anastasia (Amberg) and Eugene J. Chuday, Sr. He grew up in Bethlehem with his sister, Marlene Kratzar (deceased) and brother, Thomas Chuday. He graduated from Liberty High School and Moravian College. He also served in the Air Force and retired from the U.S. General Accountability Office in 1997.

 

Gene was a loving father, husband and grandfather. He spent his free time coaching youth sports teams, mentoring, and served as a volunteer with many community services. Gene is a life member with John Paul 1, Knights of Columbus. He also was a tortured Washington sports team fan – Redskins, Nationals, Capitals and Wizards, who lived for the next season. At least he was old enough to witness three Superbowls.

 

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Ann; Daughter, Janine Ann and Grand Puppy, Izzy.  Daughter-In-Law, Dorothy Chuday; Granddaughters, Kylee Chuday and Shelby Hjort-Michel; Great Grandson, Alexander Hjort-Michel; Brother-In-Law, Steve Versuk (Marian); Nephew, Mark Versuk; and Niece, Natisha Versuk. His beloved son, Jeff Chuday, passed away in 2016.

 

The funeral service is Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11: 00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 12975 Purcell Road, Manassas, Virginia 20012.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Gene’s name be sent to the Benedictine Sisters of Bristow VA, BARN program which provides transitional housing to homeless women and children; 9535 Linton Hall Rd., Bristow, VA 20136; http://barninc.org/
