Cherllyn, known to her family and friends as “Cheryl and/or Pie” attended Evander Child’s High School in the Bronx, New York. A true New Yorker, after graduation, she worked on Wall Street for Chemical Bank for many years and greatly enjoyed her colleagues and her work. She loved music, dancing, handball and enjoyed the New York social scene.
In 1998, she moved to Maryland, and later to Northern Virginia, to pursue her career with the U.S. State Department where she was a dedicated employee until she went on medical leave in 2016.
Pie was, by nature, a quiet, peaceful, funny and reserved person. She greatly enjoyed science fiction movies, her family and extended family and, in particular, the younger members, and had a wonderfully comedic sense of humor. She had boundless love for her only child, Kyle, who was the center of her life.
Cherllyn is survived by her son, Kyle Thompson, father, Vincent Thompson, sisters Vincene, Gladys Kay and Lisa Thompson, brother John Thompson, nieces and nephews Robert Drake, Elisa Drake, Jasmine Drake, Ross Thompson, Royse Thompson, Paryse Fuller, Phelina Thompson and a host of beloved cousins, extended family and friends.
Dear Pie, may the Lord grant you eternal peace and rest forever.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 4-5PM with a service at 5PM at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge, VA 22192.
