Carol B. Burke, 71
Carol B. Burke, 71, of King George, Virginia, departed this life on Easter Day, April 1, 2018.
Born December 20, 1946, in Tioga, Pa., she was the daughter of Lyle Vargeson and Freda Smith.
Carol was an avid outdoor enthusiast, and some of her happiest times were spent with her beloved partner, Bela Vastag, spending time hiking and camping. She also loved working in her garden and birdwatching.
Her love for her five grandchildren was apparent in many ways. She bragged about the fact that she taught her eldest granddaughter, Amanda (24), the joy shopping; she was her granddaughter Daniela’s (19) constant cheerleader at her soccer games; she nurtured her 3rd granddaughter Amber’s (10) love of animals; her 4th granddaughter, Autumn, (5) learned the word ‘sparkly’ from her Nana; and her grandson Gavin (4) was always delighted when his Nana’s attention turned to his truck and car collection.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, her brother Daniel (Danny), and her husband, William (Bill) Burke.
In addition to her partner, Bela Vastag, Carol is survived by her son, Jack Tice (Chloe); her daughter Tammy Araneda (Alberto), and son Mark Vohwinkle (Angie); and her five grandchildren listed above.
A service is scheduled for 3:00 PM, on Saturday, April 7 at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Araneda home, 13029 Taverner Loop, Woodbridge, Va. 22192.
